If you’re pricing headshots for yourself, you probably want a number before you reach out to anyone. If you’re an HR or marketing lead booking a whole team, you need to know how a quote gets built so you can plan the budget and the schedule.

This post covers both. You’ll see what people across the country report spending, what I charge for an individual session, the three things that change a team quote, and exactly what to send me so I can price your group.

I photograph headshots and corporate events on location around Houston, so these numbers come from how I actually quote the work.

This post is all about how much professional headshots cost.

The Short Answer: What Professional Headshots Cost

For one person, my sessions start at $550. For a team, the price depends on headcount, time on site and retouching, so I quote each group after you send a few details.

For national context, a 2025 Professional Photographers of America (PPA) survey asked people who’d bought professional headshots in the past three years what they paid. Their average budget was $1,540, and their average spend was $1,866. Ninety percent said the final cost matched what they expected.

That survey only counted people who hired a photographer on their own, not through work, from households earning $75,000 or more. So it’s a useful picture of what individuals pay nationally. It isn’t a per-person price for a company shoot, and it isn’t what you should expect to pay me.

Why Clear Pricing for Professional Headshots Matters

In the same PPA headshot survey, 76% of buyers said clear, up-front pricing was one of the most important factors in choosing a photographer. You already have my starting price above, so you don’t have to dig for it before deciding whether to reach out.

Price surprises are common across photography in general, not only headshots. In a separate 2026 PPA survey of people who hired a photographer for any type of session, 59% said something nearly made them give up or postpone, and the most common reason was that the cost was higher than they expected. Another 13% said figuring out a fair price was the hardest part of finding a photographer.

It’s worth getting this right, too, because most people don’t book headshots only once. Among PPA’s headshot buyers, 51% update their headshot every year or two, and 41% update it every three to five years.

3 Real Things That Change What Professional Headshots Cost

When I quote a headshot job, it’s a combination of these three.

1. How Many People Need Corporate Headshots

Headcount comes first. On a multi-person shoot, I plan for 15 to 20 minutes per person, so every name on the list adds time.

Ten people at that pace is 150 to 200 minutes in front of the camera. Once a group gets that large, a half-day or full-day booking is usually the simpler way to schedule it.

2. Time on Site for On-Location Headshots

I’m booked by time on site, and there are three ways to book it:

  • Up to one hour, right for one person.
  • A half day: 4 hours.
  • A full day: 8 hours.

Your schedule matters here, too. If people can’t be available at the same time, I’m on site longer, and the quote goes up. Most companies line everyone up in the same block, and that’s the easiest way to keep the price down.

3. Retouching on Professional Headshots

Every person gets one professionally retouched image, ready to use across LinkedIn, your website, a bio page or wherever else you need it. If anyone wants additional retouched files beyond that, I’ll custom quote them.

How Corporate Headshots Pricing Works for a Team

If you’re booking for a company, I look at headcount first and schedule second.

A small group that can all come through in one block is simple to quote. A larger group, or one spread across the day, usually fits a half-day or full-day booking better, so I can get to everyone in one visit.

The quickest way to keep a team quote down is to pick one date, pick one location and get everyone on the calendar in the same window. If your company also needs coverage of a conference, a party or an all-hands, take a look at my Houston corporate event photography page, too.

What Cheaper Professional Headshots Usually Leave Out

A lower price can mean something got cut. Here’s what’s built into every session I shoot.

Direction

I coach posture and expression, so people who hate having their photo taken still end up with a natural one.

I had a client who just didn’t feel comfortable in front of the camera. So we talked for a bit first. Once they warmed up, the natural expressions came, and that’s what made the final headshot work. Their personality came through.

Real Lighting

I bring professional lights and a backdrop. On a team shoot, that keeps everyone consistent, so the whole group looks like it belongs on the same website.

Human Retouching

A person edits your retouched image, not a filter or an AI face. It should still look like you.

I Come to You

Because I shoot at your office, nobody loses half a day driving to a studio and back.
